Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Cream Compact
Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Cream Compact – Debenhams £39*
This is a foundation I’ve wanted to try ever since it came out. I’m a big fan of the original Vitalumière Aqua so was intrigued to see how this would compare.
The first time you purchase this, you pay £39 for the whole compact and foundation. But once you run out, you simply repurchase another foundation refill for £29, which I think is a really good idea. Most of the time with high end products like this you are paying for the packaging, so to not have to repurchase the packaging is really good. £39 is obviously really expensive and I do think it is overpriced (but being Chanel, it didn’t surprise me). Also the packaging is gorgeous and makes the most perfect handbag mirror so whether or not you repurchase the foundation you are left with a really pretty Chanel compact mirror.
So onto the foundation. This is the first cream foundation I’ve tried so I wasn’t really sure where to start. Whether or not it was the ‘right way’, my instincts told me to warm a bit up on my finger and then apply it to my face where I usually put a dollop of liquid foundation. My head, nose, cheeks and chin. I then took the same brush I use for my tinted moisturisers (Real Techniques Stippling Brush) and buffed it into my skin. It was really easy to blend and not as stiff as I’d imagined it would be. The colour match was perfect and is the same as the original Vitalumière Aqua. It really does feel hydrating, kind of like a moisturiser and it didn’t cling to any dry patches or show up any pores which are the first two things I check when trying a new foundation. It left me with a dewy finish and felt comfortable on my skin.
It lasted well throughout the day, but what I like about this foundation and the real selling point for me is being able to throw it in your bag and touch up with your finger throughout the day. I didn’t really need to, but for blogging purposes I applied some with my finger to my chin half way through the day and it blended well and didn’t look cakey.
I’m impressed. Whether I’d spend £39 on it myself? I’m not so sure… I think it’s worth it if you work long hours and like to have a foundation you can use to touch up. I also think it’s worth it if you are obsessed with pretty packaging, because this really is beautiful. It’s is quite different to the original liquid foundation though so I’d always recommend trying it in store first if you can!
So that’s my thoughts. You can pick this foundation up from Debenhams, both in store and online.
Have you tried this foundation? Is it something that interests you?
