NARS LIP PENCILS
First of all can we please address the cuteness of my niece’s chubby arms?! Cuuuttte.
Moving on. NARS lip pencils are some of the best lip products I’ve tried, they’re long lasting and have incredible colour payoff. I have a velvet matte lip pencil in ‘Never Say Never’ and a satin lip pencil in ‘Majella’.
So let’s talk shades… ‘Never Say Never’ despite it’s Bieberlicious name is not a teeny bopper colour at all. It sits somewhere between raspberry and lilac, so it’s warm enough for me to wear but also has cool tones in it for those who prefer purple/blue toned lipsticks. It works perfect for a daytime or an evening look and goes nicely with a rosy blush. ‘Majella’ was one I spotted Lisa talking about in this post and I had to try it for myself! I picked it up in Space NK after a quick ‘swatch & sigh’ (you know, when you fall in love with a lipstick right then and there?!). It’s a beautiful deep red that I think looks really classy and expensive.
The formulas of the two pencils are really quite different. The velvet matte is very soft to apply and leaves a complete matte finish that at first doesn’t look drying at all but I found after wearing it all day it can dry out a bit. The satin lip pencil applies with a much stronger colour and with a slight sheeny finish. I found the satin lip pencil to last all day without drying out but it did bleed around the edges ever so slightly so an invisible lip liner wouldn’t go a miss!
I found the packaging to be a bit annoying as they are not wind up like the Bourjois or Clinique ones, you have to sharpen them with a specially large sharpener. I also find that the lids don’t stay on that well so can often come off inside your handbag creating quite a mess!
I do love the look when they’re on though and I would recommend trying them. Have you tried any of the NARS lip pencils?
