GREASY HAIR THAT WON’T DE-GREASE

Do you ever find that you wash your hair, let it dry, straighten it and then feel like none of it was worth the hassle because your hair still feels greasy?

Well I’ve been having that a lot recently and it’s been driving me crazy! It takes a long time to wash and dry my hair, so when I do, I want it to last at least 4 or 5 days without needing to be washed again. Well after a bit of experimenting and a lot of help from my friendly Twitter followers, I think I’ve come up with a few solutions for greasy hair that won’t de-grease!

Clean ’em up //
This is something I think most of us often forget to do but it really helps. Think about how often you use your straighteners and especially on ‘last day hair’. Now think about what must be lingering on those iron plates… gross right? I find giving them a wipe down (when they’re turned off) with a wipe, followed by a dry tissue really helps remove any grime. I’m now being quite strict and doing this regularly as it really makes a difference. I also find cleaning my brush has helped too!

Clarify  //
As a girl with very dry hair I’m always a bit worried about clarifying shampoos and anything that might strip my hair too much. If you have normal hair, then go for it! The Bumble & Bumble Sunday shampoo comes highly recommended but if, like me, you have dry hair then I’d recommend the Ojon Cleansing Conditioner. It’s more gentle but gives a similar cleanse to the hair.

Switch it up //
Someone tweeted me saying that my hair may be too used to my shampoo and conditioner and although it sounds bizarre, it kind of makes sense too! So I switched up my shampoo and conditioner for something new and it worked! I also think that the shampoo and conditioner I was using was a little too moisturising at the time.

Hold back //
With so many products to try and a serious love for the salon scent, I often find myself spritzing multiple products onto my wet hair before drying it. I think I sometimes go a bit too far with the styling products. I found holding back a bit and using just a heat protector on the ends gave my hair a break from the heavy products.

My hair feels back to normal now, so whilst my skin goes through the winter woes, at least I know my hair isn’t greasy! And well the skin? That’s my next battle…
