SPF FOR YOUR FACE

After a mini celebratory dance, the first thing I do when the sun comes out is layer on the SPF. For the past year I’ve been using a separate SPF on my face than the rest of my body. I find that SPF’s specifically for the face are less greasy, easier to blend and work great as a primer if you are wearing makeup. I also like to use a higher SPF on my face to avoid wrinkles, leathery skin, dark spots and because who can be bothered to keep changing their foundation shade?!

Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++ UVA
Let’s start with the most talked about SPF… It really is as good as everyone says. The lotion is white and blends in really quickly leaving a super light-weight finish on the skin. It doesn’t feel sticky and actually makes the skin really smooth.

Clinique Oil-Free City Block Sheer SPF 25 UVA/UVB
This one has a slight skin tinted colour to it to avoid any sort of white cast, but once blended out it doesn’t actually give any coverage. It’s slightly thicker than the others, it’s oil free and could easily double up as a moisturiser. The packaging is super sleek and would fit perfectly in a makeup bag.

Estée Lauder Day Wear Anti-Oxidant & UV Defense SPF 50
This one is a white lotion with a slight green tint that disappears once rubbed into the skin. The green can help to tone down any redness in the skin, but if you don’t have any it still works great. Compared to the others this has a distinct smell that reminds me of cucumbers and sun cream, I really like it! It blends into the skin well leaving a smooth, slightly tacky finish that would be good as a makeup base.

Kiko City Filter Sunscreen SPF 50 Primer
This is the only one that actually claims to be a primer and is probably my favourite from the bunch! It comes out a slightly yellowy white, blends easily into the skin and smells a bit like ice cream, which I’m not complaining about. It’s a light-weight texture similar to the Kiehl’s and Estée Lauder and is the only one that comes with a pump rather than in a squeezy tube.

I do really like them all, but my favourite is Kiko, followed by Estée Lauder and Kiehl’s (joint second) and Clinique is my least favourite mainly because of the lower SPF and thicker texture.

What has been your face SPF of choice this summer?
