BLURRED EDGES
When flicking through this month’s Allure magazine, the one feature that stood out to me was ‘Blurred Edges’ by the Beauty Reporter. I immediately wanted to give the look a go myself and this is how it came out. The smudgy lip look was a trend seen at quite a few fashion shows such as Marni and Dior and if you’re not a fan of taking your time painting on the perfect lip, then this is definitely look for you!
There’s a couple of ways you can achieve “blurred edges”, the first one I tried was by using a cotton bud to blend out the edges of a perfectly applied lipstick. I found that this worked best with a moisturising lipstick as it moved around easier. For the look above I simply applied the lipstick quite generously to the inside of the lips, avoiding the edges and once you kiss your lips together you’re left with a natural blurred edge.
I quite like it and it kind of looks like you’ve been secretly eating some kind of forbidden fruit. Really what it comes down to is that apparently it’s on trend to have smudged, non-touched up lipstick and well frankly that means we can relax on a night out. If someone comments on your lipstick rubbing off, just tell them Allure says it’s cool. Done.
Would you try “blurred edges”?
