A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED

I try a lot of beauty products so it’s only natural that I often come across ones that don’t quite meet my personal requirements and get pushed aside to give to friends who might prefer them. I’m not often disappointed with products I buy myself as they usually come through recommendation or are purchased after doing lots of research. So here’s my list of products that I was a little disappointed with but remember that we all have different opinions on what’s great and what’s not, so don’t let this stop you trying them for yourself!

When Origins announced their Drink Up Hydrating lip balms I was really excited as I love the Overnight mask and it’s scent. I was expecting an apricot scented overnight lip treatment but what I found was a mint scented, quite sticky lip balm. It’s a shame, but if Origins did bring out an overnight apricot scented lip treatment I’d buy it in a shot! Revlon is one of my favourite drugstore brands for lips so the Ultimate Suedes seemed promising, but after applying them I found they really separated on my lips and made them look really dry. I haven’t found any way to make these work and unfortunately haven’t been able to use them since. The Clarins Crystal Balms look incredibly cool in the bullet but because the pigment is surrounded by a balm it’s really hard to apply the colour where you want it and I find them awkward to use.

Although the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel is a favourite of lots of beauty bloggers (and it was one of mine at first!) I gave up on it after a while as I found it left white bits in my dark brows which just looked awful. I’ve since been using the Blink Brow Gel and I love it. A YSL nail polish is a real treat and their formulas are lovely but this ‘Tie & Dye’ polish is just a little bit misleading. In the bottle it looks like an amazing three toned effect and I was expecting it to look like tie-dye but when applied it just looks like any other shimmer topcoat which is a real shame. I’ve seen a lot of people talk about the new Bourjois cream blushers and their other Summer launches have been amazing so I was excited to try them but I find that once applied they go really chalky and powdery. I don’t love cream to powder blushers and I feel like you might as well just use a powder blush which would be easier to blend.

I am a huge fan of the Borghese Active Mud Mask and in the starter set I got there was also the Fango Brillante which is a pink mud mask. I really disliked this one and had to wash it off almost immediately as it hurt my skin! I’d recommend the original active mask for face and body but steer clear of this one.

Finally, the beauty blender which is one of the most talked about products in the beauty world and I desperately wanted to try it for myself. To use it you basically wet the sponge, wring it out and then bounce the foundation on your face. I found it took ages to apply my foundation and I really didn’t like the sheer and quite spongey finish.
