A stay at home day means simple, easy makeup but also means the chance to try out some new bits.
I recently ordered the Beauty Blender duo from Cult Beauty, they didn’t have any of the single ones in stock and I really wanted to try it as so many people rave about it. I’ve tried it with a few different foundations and on this day I used Revlon Nearly Naked, mixing two shades to get the right colour. I have to say, I was really disappointed with the Beauty Blender and it was nothing like I expected. To use it you need to soak it in water, it expands, you let it dry and then you press your foundation into the skin using it to bounce around your face. I found it used way more foundation than usual and I didn’t get a flawless finish like I was promised, it was quite spongey looking and the foundation just sat on top of my skin. I’m glad I tried it, but I don’t think it’s for me. Like most things I’m disappointed in I will try it again in a while to see if my thoughts change.
On my cheeks I went for a cream blush and ‘Coral Reef’ from Revlon is a stunning shade. I wanted simple, glossy lips so I went for the Jouer lip enhancer which is a pretty pink gloss. For my eyes I started with the Blink clear brow gel and I’m so happy I’ve finally found one that doesn’t go too hard or dry white. I primed my lids with the MAC Painterly paint pot and then used some new eyeshadows from Cosmetics a la carte. It’s a really cool brand that sell beautiful makeup but also offer a service where they can duplicate any makeup product that you like, for example if your favourite MAC lipstick has been discontinued they can make you another one exactly the same. It’s an expensive service but for some people it’s worth it. I love all the colours in this personalised palette I made, especially ‘Antique’ which is a green/brown. I’ve also been loving using the Giorgio Armani waterproof smooth silk eye pencil because it glides on so easily and lasts all day!
