THE DAYTIME PERFUMES
I wanted to do a couple of posts talking you through my favourite perfumes for day and night, so here’s part one (thanks Anna for the post request!). Please excuse me though, it is so hard to describe perfumes so instead I’m going to try a different approach and if any tickle your fancy I recommend heading to a counter and trying them yourself. Perfumes smell so different on everyone, so spray it on your skin (not a bit of cardboard!) walk around and see how it settles. Another new perfume test I do is always ask someone who knows me well if it smells like me, they’ll know instantly.
Where I’d wear it? On a daytime date.
How it makes me feel? Confident, sexy, girly & important.
“Evoking a summer garden, the floral transparent fragrance has sparkling notes of frosted lemon and green apple and a bouquet of rose petals and peony. The bright, intense femininty is warmed with the lingering seduction of amber notes.” – Selfridges website

How it makes me feel? Positive and upbeat.
“Poetically named L’Ombre dans l’Eau, “The Shadow in the Water,” it is a fragrance that recalls a lush garden at water’s edge and a brief glimpse of life. One day, this dear one was gathering roses and blackcurrant; stretching her hand out to Desmond Knox-Leet, she suggested that he work on this accord, one of potent originality.” – Selfridges website

How it makes me feel? Fresh, pretty & grown up.
“The moment this cologne warms, notes of cassis, wild fig and Mediterranean pine blend beautifully on the skin. Discover a scent that is earthy, green and embracing.” – Selfridges website

Where I’d wear it? Any time, any day.
How it makes me feel? Desired, memorable, sexy, interesting & creative
“On its own it is less of an aroma than an effect. The wearer may notice a pleasant, subtle velvety-woody note which will vanish, then re-surface after some time, but more than this, she or he will notice the impact it has on other people, because Molecule 01 lends an indefinable radiance to the water. In fact, its effect is almost pheromonic. This is fragrance at its most radical.” – Liberty website
Where I’d wear it? On a work day.
How it makes me feel? Comforted, fresh, warm & sophisticated.
“Diptyque’s Philosykos, which in Greek means “friend of the fig tree,” is an ode to the entire tree: the green, pungent freshness of the leaves, the wood warmed in the sun, the milky flavor of the fruit.” – Selfridges website
Part two will be my favourite evening perfumes, so check back for that tomorrow. What’s your all time favourite day perfume?
