SPA FIND AT THE CHELTENHAM CHASE HOTEL
A few weeks ago, my mum and I stayed the night at the Cheltenham Chase hotel to explore the spa and have a couple of treatments. I think it’s nice to get away every now and again for some relaxation time, especially if you live in a busy city. The drive from London to Cheltenham is easy, so we jumped in our car to get there.
The hotel itself was really nice and we were especially impressed with the modern, comfortable rooms. The bathroom was really sleek and even had a fancy mirror that doesn’t fog up when you have a bath (I’m easily impressed by gadgets!). I really liked that because it’s a spa hotel it’s normal to see people walking around the hotel in dressing gowns and slippers and it’s normal to eat dinner in the restaurant still wearing them. We were really disappointed with the food at the hotel though, a buffet for lunch and a la carte for dinner, both really average meals and we found ourselves debating whether to drive to the nearest town to eat. We had breakfast in bed before driving to Birmingham for a very early start, so that was nice and breakfast was fine (there weren’t that many options).
So onto the spa, the real reason we went. The spa is quite small and sits above the swimming pool area. As you’d expect it was incredibly relaxing with a relaxation room to wait in before your treatments. We were both booked in for a Face & Back ritual which is a 50 minutes treatment costing £45. This treatment consisted of a facial using a cleanser, a gentle peel, a toner and a night cream. They then go onto the back treatment, using a salt scrub, an oil and a lotion. It felt like it lasted forever (in a good way) and the ladies doing our treatments were great. We did however feel like the products weren’t as luxurious as we would have liked. After a while on the skin the facial products felt a bit greasy and we had to wash them off. We also booked in a couple of ‘Relaxing Foot Rituals’ as there wasn’t much else to do in the afternoon. The foot treatments lasted 25 mins and cost £25 and they were really enjoyable. The ladies used a foot scrub and a lotion and our feet felt really soft and nourished afterwards.
We didn’t really make use of the swimming pool area, but we took a look around and it seemed nice with a sauna, changing rooms and a steam room area.
So would I recommend it? Well I’m not going to lie, I have been to better spas. For me personally when I have a facial I want the best products for my skin to be used, so I’d go to a spa that uses a specific brand I like. However, if you live near Cheltenham and you want to treat someone to a spa day, I think it is a nice place to visit. The room we stayed in was really nice so for a one night escape, it was perfect!
Have you visited this spa before? Would you go for a visit?
