Something smells special
I think you are either a candle person or you’re not. I can completely understand why some people ‘wouldn’t get it’, but personally I love them and would happily spend good money on them. I’ve recently enjoyed trying out a few different ones and finding out what kind of scents I prefer. It’s difficult as I don’t yet have my own place so all the candles I burn need to be bedroom scents. When I have my own flat every room will definitely have it’s own beautiful candle.
The Max Benjamin Dodici candle is really special as it is a 3-wick candle. I think the 3-wick candles look amazing (definitely one for the coffee table). They describe this smell as a stylish perfume with oils of Rosemary, Sicilian Lemon and Marjoram on a backdrop of Tuscan Lavender. I know I just said that this would look great on a coffee table, but actually the scent is perfect for a bedroom. It’s really fresh but still comforting. I have loved having this glowing and burning in my room recently. This candle is £40 and will soon be sold in John Lewis.
Malin + Goetz is a pretty cool brand that I’ve been getting to know. The first thing I love about the Cannabis candle is the name! They describe the scent as top notes of orange and lemon; middle notes of fig and pepper; base notes of sandalwood and patchouli. Fig and patchouli are regular favourites of mine which I always seem to gravitate towards. It has a very masculine scent when you smell it unlit and when you light it it’s very subtle and gorgeous! I love the design of the packaging and the frosted glass it comes in. This candle is £36.
Now, I know this isn’t a candle, but as we’re talking scents I HAD to tell you about my new purchase. I was doing some pre-holiday shopping in Boots and came across this Vanilla Biscuit bath and shower gel by The Little Bubble Co. What drew me to it is the similarity to Philosophy, a brand I’ve always wanted to try but object to paying the ridiculous prices. I opened up the lid to have a sniff and OH-MY-GOD, it smells incredible. Not only does it smell like the most delicious cookie, but it was only £2! I’m not sure why on the Boots website it says it’s by Pink Cow and it also says it on the bottle, mine definitely says The Little Bubble Co… Anyway, I have just used this tonight and I’m happy it doesn’t leave an overpowering smell on your skin – it’s the perfect amount of yumminess.
So, do you like the new blog layout? I promise it’s the last time I change it for a long time 🙂 Thanks to Jay for his whiz-kid skills!
Lily xx
Disclaimer: The 2 candles were sent to me as PR samples. The shower gel was bought by me. My opinion is always honest.
